Here are descriptions of twenty one acts that trod the boards of English and American theatres during the 1920's. Mostly British because that is where my interest lies. Here are the magical stars of the twenties. Reviews of Okito, Nikola, Okito, Thurston, and more, in venues from Maskelyne's to the London Coliseum.
A great deal can be learned by looking at the programmes. Variety of effect is immediately noticable and most all of the acts have a theme of some sort. I have tried to refrain from editorializing but I must mention that the program issued for the Thurston show stated "Mr. Thurston is the originator and inventor of nearly every effect he presents." Well, that's show- biz!
