
Billed as "The Magical Phantasist".
A skeleton framework is fitted with several panels on which are depicted dainty floral designs. The panels fall apart and many pots of flowers appear. This was followed by the production of much livestock from the "Bretma Miracle Cabinet".
A tea-tray is brought forward and tea milk and sugar are mixed together in a tea-pot. Then plain tea and milk are poured out seperately, and dry powdered sugar tipped from the pot. Then, drawing attention to a huge tea-cup fitted with a strainer, he proceeds to pour a seemingly endless quanity of tea into the cup, During this routine his assistant, Miss Sylvia Toye appears as the "Spirit of Afternoon Tea", and assists him through the remainder of the act.
A front-cloth interlude includes the vanish of a lady's jumper (or sweater) from a stand such as is used in stores for displaying blouses. The jumper reappears in a large drum-head tube. Doves are smartly produced in a pan as the curtain rises for fill-stage.
There follows an effect which he calls "The Powers of Suggestion". It is suggested that two doves are taken from a cage and placed in an empty hat. But the doves vanish from the hat and reappear in the cage. He said in doing this effect that that although the audience thought they saw him taking the doves from the cage and putting them into the hat, he was only using the powers of suggestion, because they never left the cage.
The Rice Bowls and Parasol and Silks followed, then an illusion entitled "The ChineseTorture Chamber", A Chinese is fastened into an upright box with stocks which encircle feet, waist and neck, The door is closed. The panels fall apart and the Chinese has vanished, leaving just: the stocks still in place.
A version of the Sun and Moon followed and a final illusion using giant cards. A "Find-the-Lady" routine is performed and finally the queen of Hearts materializes in person.
